Remembering 9/11

Most of us remember that day.  And those of us too young to remember (myself included), or who weren’t born yet, have all heard about it.
On September 11th, 2001, terrorists flew two airplanes into the two Twin Towers, both of which subsequently collapsed.  A third plane hit the Pentagon.

That’s the official story, anyway.  The disaster – which claimed almost 3000 lives – has several unanswered questions and inconsistencies.

It's been 4 months since my A History of Marriage - Part 1 , but I've finally gotten around to the second part.  In Part 1, I discussed marriage traditions of pagan/superstitious origin, and the origin and history of marriage licences.  In Part 2, I'm looking at marriage age, cousin marriage, and avunculate marriage (marriage of a man to his niece, or a woman to her nephew). The Werewolves of Ireland

Ah, werewolves.  Popular trope in horror movies and novels.  Usually portrayed as a human who transforms into a humanoid wolf (or as a human-wolf hybrid).  Sometimes the condition (known as lycanthropy) is genetic and hereditary, sometimes it’s the result of a werewolf bite, sometimes the result of a curse.  It’s often (but not necessarily) related to the full moon.   https://youtu.be/TKIbuXsN2F4   https://youtu.be/myjd4uoq6dY https://youtu.be/kzZcDHHNINk However, these nightmarish beasts are not limited to the world of fiction; they are a legendary creature, seen and encountered by many people up until the present day. The Ashkenazis: Jews or Khazars?

Here, at long last, is the article I promised you in  The Forgotten Jews almost 3 months ago. The Ashkenazis, otherwise known as the Ashkenazim, make up the vast majority of world Jewry.  They come from Eastern Europe, particularly (but not exclusively) Germany.  The second-largest group is the Sephardim, who come from Spain, followed by the Mizrahim, who stayed in the Middle East. However, there is a theory – founded in the 1800s, and holding some small degree of popularity today – that the Ashkenazim are not Jews; but rather, Gentile descendants of the Khazars.  The Khazars were a Turkish people whose empire, known as Khazaria, lasted from about 650 AD to 969 AD. Is this claim true, or false?
