Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 29

Today I present another installment of my Restored English Translation (RET) of the Bible.  Today I present the 29th chapter of Beresheet , known in English as Genesis .  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them afterwards.  At the very end is a list of where the Aleph-Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text . CHAPTER 29 1 Then Ya’akov lifted his feet and came into the land of the people of the east. 2 And he looked, and behold a well in the field; and behold, there were three flocks of sheep lying by it. For out of that well they watered the flocks. And a great stone was on the well’s mouth. 3 And all the flocks were gathered there. And they usually rolled the stone from the well’s mouth and watered the sheep, and put the stone again on the well’s mouth in his place. 4 And Ya’akov said to them, “My brothers, where are you from?” And they said, “We are from Charan.” 5 And he said to them, “Do you know Lavan the son of

Salvation can One lose it? And if that is possible Just How might One lose it?

And Then Messiah Shall Come There are some scriptures that give me definite pause when I consider the Calvinist verses Armenian positions with regard to one being able to lose Salvation. “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.” 1 Chronicles 28:9 NASB Obviously Solomon did not yet know the Lord at this point in his life, so this could be considered God’s call on his life. Seek and you shall find, but forsake and—-. And this is a big but. First let me say that you cannot earn you salvation by works, or by anything that you do except to believe what the Holy Spirit is… View original post 1,624 more words

Christmas

Image
G’day, everybody!  Well, today is Christmas.  I’m sure many of you will be spending time with family and friends, opening presents, etc, etc.  It’s widely assumed (and taught) that Christmas is Jesus’ (Yeshua’s) birthday – or if not His actual birthday, at least is a celebration of His birth.  But is that actually true? One may be surprised to know that the early Christians did not widely celebrate Jesus’ birth, and disagreed significantly about the date.  Most months had proponents claiming a date in it for His birth (May 20, January 6, etc). [2]   December 25th was just one date among many.  Then, in 336 AD, the pagan Roman Emperor Constantine (who had “converted” to Christianity – albeit remaining a staunch Mithra worshiper until literally the day of his death, when he suddenly decided he wanted a baptism – but very strongly mixed paganism [you know, the stuff the Bible repeatedly warns us to AVOID] in with Christianity, making modern-day Christianity unreco

My First Podcast Appearance

Myself and my sister rue202 from Racheal’s Novels and miscellaneousoddity just recently appeared on fellow blogger bottomlesscoffee007 ‘s podcast.  https://bottomlesscoffee007.com/2018/12/21/jm-from-jms-history-corner-and-rue-from-rachaels-novels-call-in-from-down-under-podcast-episode-20/ It was a little rough at first (I have a literal phobia of phone & skype conversations), but it turned out good in the end. Enjoy.

Chanukkah - The Feast of Hanukkah

Shabbat Shalom!  Today (December 21st, 2018) is (in Australia) the first day of Hanukkah (known in Hebrew of Chanukkah), the 8-day feast commemorating the rededication of the Jewish Temple by the Maccabees three years to the day after it was defiled by pagans. You may notice that most people have already celebrated Hanukkah.  I explain the calendar I use in Yom Teruah – The Feast of Trumpets .  It begins on the 25th day of the 9th month (Kislev), and ends on the 3rd day of the 10th month (Tevet).  You can see the feast calendar I’m following for the next year here: Feast Calendar . What is the origin of Hanukkah?  It is explained in the Bible: 1  The Jews in Jerusalem and those in the land of Judea, To their Jewish kindred in Egypt, Greetings and true peace. 2  May God do good to you, and may he remember his covenant with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob, his faithful servants. 3  May he give you all a heart to worship him and to do his will with a st

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 28

Today I present the latest installment in my Restored English Translation (RET) of the Bible.  Today’s is Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 28.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them after the chapter.  At the end is a list of where the Aleph Tavs occur (as they are no longer included in the main text ). CHAPTER 28 1 And Yitschak called Ya’akov, and he blessed him, and charged him, and said to him, “You will not take a wife of the Kena’ani women. 2 Arise, go to Padan-Aram, to the house of your mother’s father Betu’el; and take for yourself a wife from there of the daughters of your mother’s brother Lavan. 3 And EL SHADDAI bless you, and make you fruitful, and multiply you, that you may be a multitude of peoples. 4 And may He give to you the blessing of Avraham, to you and to your seed with you; that you may possess the land in which you are a stranger, which ELOHIM gave to Avraham.” 5 And Yitschak sent Ya’akov, a nd he went to Padan-Aram to Lava

Holy Humour

In the year 2008, the Lord came unto Noah, who was now living in the United States , and said, 'Once again, the earth has become wicked, and I see the end of all flesh before me. Build another Ark and save 2 of every living thing along with a few good humans' He gave Noah the blueprints, saying, 'You have 6 months to build the Ark before I will start the unending rain for 40 days and 40 nights.' Six months later, the Lord looked down and saw Noah weeping in his yard - but no Ark. 'Noah!' He roared, 'I'm about to start the rain! Where is the Ark ?' 'Forgive me, Lord,' begged Noah, 'but things have changed. I needed a building permit. I've been arguing with the inspector about the need for a sprinkler system. My neighbors claim that I've violated the neighborhood zoning laws by building the Ark in my yard and exceeding the height limitations. We had to go to the Development Appeal Board for a decision. Then the Depa

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 27

Here is my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 27.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them afterwards.  At the end is a list of where the Aleph-Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text. CHAPTER 27 1 And it was that when Yitschak was old and his eyes were dim, so that he could not see, that he called his eldest son Esav and said to him, “My son!” And he said to him, “Here I am.” 2 And he said, “Behold now, I am old. I do not know the day of my death. 3 Now take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field, and catch me some game. 4 And make me delicacies, such as I love, and bring it to me, that I may eat; that my soul may bless you before I die.” 5 And Rivkah heard when Yitschak spoke to his son Esav. And Esav went to the field to hunt game to bring in. 6 And Rivkah spoke to her son Ya’akov, saying, “Behold, I heard your father speak to your brother Esav, saying, 7 ‘Bring m
