Today I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 49.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them after the chapter.  At the end is a list of where the Aleph-Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text. Today I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 46.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them afterwards.  At the end is a list of where the Aleph-Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text. (Note: this is my own translation of the Bible.) In verse 27, most translations follow the Masoretic Text, Samaritan Pentateuch and Aramaic Peshitta in listing 70 souls.  The Septuagint and Dead Sea Scrolls, however, read 75 souls, as does Acts 7:14, which I have hence followed.  The discrepancy in the numbers is over whether or not Joseph's grandsons are to be counted.  I have followed the Septuagint in counting them.   CHAPTER 46 1 And Yisra'el started on his journey with all that he had, and came to Be'er-Sheva, and offered sacrifices to the ELOHAY of his father Yitschak. 2 And ELOHIM spoke to Yisra'el in the visions of the night and said, "Ya'akov!
