Reader Request Friday 27 March

Image
On Sunday , I notified you all that I'm doing a Reader Request; meaning you can ask me any question you want, and I'll TRY to answer them. Well, the day of reckoning has come!  You've asked the questions; now I'll supply the answers. BONNIE HAWKINS ' QUESTIONS Have you written a book? No - BUT I'm writing one; I'm in the middle of editing my Restored English Translation (RET) of Genesis for publication; I've finished editing the translation itself (and the introduction), and am adding the footnotes (which are the final touches).  Hopefully, you'll see an announcement on here in the next few weeks that I've published! SHAHESHAL 'S QUESTIONS Did you like writing from the start J-M or just a few years ago??? Pretty much from the start; when I was younger, I used to love coming up with story ideas (often rip-offs of something I'd read or watched :) ), although actually writing them was another matter.  Blogging - and FanFiction - all...

Reader Request Friday 27 March

G’day, it’s that time again – another Reader Request!  Ask me any question you want, and I’ll try to answer them on Friday or Saturday.  Ask away!

Reader Request Friday 31 January

Image
Well, here is the Reader Request I promised on Sunday .  You’ve asked the questions.  Now I’ll provide the answers. SONRISA’S QUESTION Have you heard of Eckhart Tolle and are his teachings compatible with Christianity? I hadn’t heard of him before you asked.  He’s an interesting bloke with some interesting points, some of which are compatible with Biblical Christianity – particularly if you weave God into it. Otherwise, to me, he’s just another spiritual teacher. ALLY’S QUESTIONS If you were offered a free return flight for two plus 7 nights accommodation anywhere in the world where would you choose and why ?  Hmm…  I would like to visit New Zealand.  My father, paternal grandparents, and many of my relatives on that side are from the country, and I’ve heard it has beautiful scenery. However, I would also like to visit Israel – the Holy Land – mainly for religious reasons. RUE202’S QUESTIONS What do you think of my blogs? Although I don’...

Reader Request Friday 31 January AND HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!

Image
First off, to all my fellow Aussies: HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!  Today marks the 232nd anniversary of when the First Fleet established the Colony of New South Wales in what is now Sydney (if I'm not mistaken), marking the beginning of what would become modern Australia. It's a day to reflect on our history - both the good and the bad - and how far we've come as a nation, and celebrate our nation, and the great democracy we've become (democratically speaking, greater than the vast majority of nations on earth - including the USA; and that's not a biased statement). (And yes, despite the clamourings of a small minority who - according to recent polls - only represent about 11% of the population, Australia Day is here to stay on January 26; the 71-75% support for the present date of the holiday found by recent opinion polls will certainly help ensure that.) https://www.theaustralian.com.au/commentary/opinion/australia-day-debate-there-are-364-other-days-to-wear-a-b...

Reader Request Friday 13 December

Image
On Saturday , I gave notice that I’m doing a Reader Request today – Friday, December 13th – and to ask me (almost) any question you want.  Well… time’s up!  Here are my answers to your questions. EKURIE ‘S QUESTION Do you have or have you ever had a dog? Any kind of pet? When I was little, we had two dogs, one of whom was named Tea.  (I specifically remember one time letting him into the house because he wasn’t allowed inside.)  Later – in my current home – we had a couple puppies, Max and Jessie (shih tzu/chihuaha cross), but Jessie died from eating snail bait, and we subsequently gave Max away. We currently own chickens, who provide a fairly steady stream of eggs. RYAN CALLAHAN ‘S QUESTIONS What is your favourite food? Ooh, that’s a tough one!  Probably lasagna, with pizza second.  After that, basically anything KFC. Where would you like to visit the most? Um… I really don’t know! KEZIAH ‘S QUESTIONS If you could of...

It’s been AGES since I’ve done a Reader Request !  (Not since March, apparently.)  To everybody reading this: ask me anything you want in the comments, and I’ll try to answer them this coming Friday or Saturday (as long as they’re not too personal or political).  Ask away!

Reader Request Friday 15 March

Image
I notified you my readers on Sunday that I'm doing a Reader Request on Friday - today.  Here's the answers to the questions you all asked. LANDER7'S QUESTIONS   Who lies down with the lion in the Bible? The calf and the yearling do.  "The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling together; and a little child will lead them. "  ( Isaiah 11:6 NIV) There is a common misconception that the passage says "The lion will lie down with the lamb", but this is just that: a misconception.  Both the lion and the lamb are separately mentioned in the verse, and Yeshua/Jesus is of course the Lion and the Lamb, resulting in this confusion.  (And contrary to some claims, the KJV was NOT altered to read "wolf and the lamb"; apart from the widespread misconception, there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the text ever read otherwise.  The logistics for changing it are ridiculous; ...

Reader Request Friday 11 January

Image
I gave notice of a Reader Request earlier this week.  But, I had only one question!  Well, better than nothing.  the question’s from rue202 of Racheal’s Novels and miscellaneousoddity (both blogs I highly recommend). If you were in a movie adaption of one of James Rollins SIGMA Force book, which character would you want to play? A tough decision.  I’d probably in the end pick Monk Kokkalis.  He’s funny, but very intelligent. And he gets together with Kat.
