Welcome to the 31st edition of My Fortnightly Movie/TV Thoughts!  Last fortnight, I reviewed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2007) and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009).  This fortnight, I’m reviewing:
  • The Ten Commandments (1956), rated PG for low level coarse language
That of course is the Australian rating; in the United States, it’s more sensibly rated G (I know, I promised myself I wouldn’t comment on the appropriateness or inappropriateness of ratings; but the Australian rating is ridiculous – there is NO coarse language WHATSOEVER!  The best excuse for PG that could be made is mild themes).

Having personally witnessed the effects of teaching and/or believing that wives are meant to be submissive, that the man is the head of the house or is meant to have authority, that only men should hold certain (or all) offices, etc – and having read testimonies like this, I simply don’t have any respect for the belief. The Werewolves of Ireland

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 14

  Here is my  Restored English Translation  (RET) of  Beresheet  ( Genesis ) chapter 14.  As usual, it contains the  Hebrew names  and a glossary for them.  After that, at the very end, is a list of occurrences of the  Aleph/ Tavs . Verse 5 is particularly interesting; it mentions that the confederacy that attacked Sodom and Gomorrah had previously struck the Rephaim, Zuzim, Emim and Horites.  The Rephaim were a race of  Nephilim , and the others may have been as well.
