Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 1

This is my monthly reblog of an older post. I have embarked on a quest to translate the entire Bible into English.  Or, more accurately, revise and correct previous translations in light of the Hebrew word meaning and ancient manuscripts.  It is (currently) called the Restored English Translation (RET).  This translation preserves all of the Hebrew names.  It also includes the Aleph Tavs   את – the revelation of Yeshua ha’Mashiach (Jesus the Christ) throughout the Tanakh (Old Testament).  More info on the ongoing project will be posted later.  A glossary is at the end of the chapter. You can read the rest at https://jmshistorycorner.blogspot.com/2018/05/restored-english-translation-of-genesis.html

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 33

Today I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 33.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them after the chapter.  At the very end is a list of where the Aleph Tavs occur (as they are no longer included in the main text). CHAPTER 33 1 And Ya'akov lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, Esav came, and with him 400 men. And he divided the children to Leah and to Rachel, and to the two female slaves. 2   And he put the female slaves and their children first, and Leah and her children after, and Rachel and Yosef last. 3 And he passed over before them, and bowed himself to the ground seven times, until he came near to his brother. 4 And Esav ran to meet him, and embraced him, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. And they wept. 5 And he lifted up his eyes and saw the women and the children, and said, "Who are those with you?" And he answered, "The children whom ELOHIM has graciously

An Open Letter To “Flat Earthers”

Excellent article (ignore the Trump-bashing video towards the end; the rest is excellent and on topic). REALITY BLOG I am not here today in an attempt to debate on the subject of this post, and I’m not here to declare what “shape” the earth is. The most honest answer is invariable always that one which best describes one’s best disposition, which is that I simply don’t know. I cannot know. I have no vantage point to utter such a confident declaration and build a faith-based counter-cultural movement around it. I would never claim to know without seeing for myself, which I cannot. This is, by the way, a great example of where the Trivium method (grammar, logic, rhetoric) works wonders. The trick with applying the Trivium method is to know when it is applicable and when it is not. The Truth, when told, needs not the Trivium to show it to be Truth. Only the lie, no matter how well-intentioned or ill-conceived it stands, can be defeated by… View original post

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 32

Here is my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 32.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them after the chapter.  At the end is a list of the Aleph-Tav occurrences (which are no longer included in the main text). You may notice that this chapter has 33 verses, rather than the traditional 32; and that the previous chapter, Chapter 31 , had 54 verses, rather than the traditional 55.  That is because the Jewish and Christian verse divisions differ as to whether "And Lavan rose up early in the morning and kissed his grandsons and his daughters, and blessed them. And Lavan left and returned to his place." is the 55th and last verse of chapter 31 or the 1st verse of chapter 32.  I have followed the Jewish numbering and placed it as the first verse of Chapter 32. CHAPTER 32 1 And Lavan rose up early in the morning and kissed his grandsons and his daughters, and blessed them. And Lavan left and returned to his place. 2

I was going to do a post about dinosaurs – more specifically, the Loch Ness Monster.  (I’ve previously posted about them in the articles Dinosaurs: Extinct or Not? and More Living Dinosaurs .)  However, my day was super busy, so I’ll just let you know that I’m now on Twitter!  You can find my official account at: https://twitter.com/Indiana57264662 I post my J-M’s History Corner posts, my Blockbusters Reviewed posts, and about whatever else – often stuff that doesn’t make it onto my blog.  Feel free to check it out and follow IF you are so inclined (no hard feelings if you don’t ).  If you’re on Twitter, give me the link to I can check you out.  Can’t guarantee a follow, but I’ll at least check you out.

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 31

Today I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 31.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them after the chapter.  At the end is a list of where the Aleph Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text . CHAPTER 31 1 And he heard the words of Lavan's sons, saying, "Ya'akov has taken away all that was our father's; and he has gotten all this glory from that which was our father's ." 2 And Ya'akov saw the face of Lavan, and behold, it was not toward him as before. 3 And YEHOVAH said to Ya'akov, "Return to the land of your fathers, and to your kindred; and I will be with you." 4 And Ya'akov sent and called Rachel and Leah to the field to his flocks. 5 And said to them, "I see your father's face, that it is not toward me as before; but the ELOHAY of my father has been with me. 6 And you know that I have served your father with all my power . 7 And

Reader Request Friday 11 January

Image
I gave notice of a Reader Request earlier this week.  But, I had only one question!  Well, better than nothing.  the question’s from rue202 of Racheal’s Novels and miscellaneousoddity (both blogs I highly recommend). If you were in a movie adaption of one of James Rollins SIGMA Force book, which character would you want to play? A tough decision.  I’d probably in the end pick Monk Kokkalis.  He’s funny, but very intelligent. And he gets together with Kat.

Reader Request Friday 11 January

I haven't done a Reader Request on Blogspot before until now, but I have on WordPress .  You can see my previous Reader Requests on there here: Reader Request Friday 23 November (questions) Reader Request Friday 23 November (answers) Reader Request Friday 14 December (questions) Reader Request Friday 14 December (answers) Basically, ask me any question(s), and I’ll answer them in a post (on this site) on either Friday the 11th or Saturday the 12th of January, 2019.

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 30

Here is my Restored English Translation (RET) of Beresheet ( Genesis ) chapter 30.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names , with a glossary of them after the chapter.  At the very end is a glossary of where the Aleph-Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text. CHAPTER 30 1 And when Rachel saw that she bore Ya’akov no children, Rachel envied her sister, and said to Ya’akov, “Give me children! And if there is none, I will die.” 2 And Ya’akov’s anger was kindled against Rachel. And he said, “Am I in ELOHIM’s place, Who has withheld from you the fruit of the womb?” 3 And she said, “Behold my maidservant Bilhah, go in to her. And she shall bear on my knees that I may also have children by her.” 4 And she gave to him her maidservant Bilhah for a wife. And Ya’akov went in to her. 5 And Bilhah conceived and bore a son to Ya’akov. 6 And Rachel said, “ELOHIM has judged and has also heard my voice, and has given me a son.” Therefore she called his nam
