A History of Marriage - Part 3

Welcome to the third and final installment of my A History of Marriage series.  In Part 1 , I looked at the history and origins of marriage licenses and many marriage traditions.  In Part 2 I looked at the history of and science behind marriage age, cousin marriages and avunculate (uncle/aunt with niece/nephew) marriages.  In Part 3 we'll look at...  POLYGAMY , marriage of a person to more than one partners at once.  More specifically, we'll look at POLYGYNY (the marriage of a man to more than one wife at the same time), although that'll touch briefly on POLYANDRY (the marriage of a woman to more than one husband at the same time).  Some refer to it as PLURAL MARRIAGE .  It's frowned upon by Western societies.
