Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 4

G'day!  The next installment in my Restored English Translation (RET) of the Bible.  Today is Beresheet (Genesis) chapter 4.  As usual, I have the Hebrew names and the Aleph Tavs and a Hebrew name glossary at the end. One thing different you may notice is different about this translation is verse 16.  Most translations read "And Qayin [Cain] went out from the presence of YAHUAH, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden." (Cepher translation)  However, the word "Nod" is not a place name; it's simply a word meaning "wandering" (Strong's #H5113/112 [same word]).  Therefore, it should simply be translated as "lived in the land of wandering" , somewhere east of the Garden of Eden.  Some love to point to (the traditional translation of) this passage as "proof" that Cain couldn't have married his sister, because he went off to a distant and married someone else, and that therefore Adam and Eve weren't the only...

The Canon of Scripture, Part 1: The Apocrypha

Image
The canon of Scripture is a settled issue, isn't it?  You've got your 66 books total, 39 in the Old Testament (24 by the Jewish counting) and 27 in the New Testament.  However, when you do the research, things are not so simple.  There are many "other" books claiming to be Scripture, a number of them accepted by various denominations and/or included in various Bibles over the years.  Are they Scripture?  Or just heretical additions? The most well-known (and most widely accepted) body of these "extra" works is the Apocrypha (which means "Hidden").  People disagree as to which books constitute the Apocrypha.  For the purpose of this article, the word refers to the following 18 books: Baruch Letter of Jeremiah Tobit Prayer of Manasseh Psalms 151-160 Wisdom of Solomon Wisdom of Ben Sirach (also known as Ecclesiasticus) "Additions" to Esther Judith Prayer of Azariah Susanna Bel and the Dragon 1 Ezra 2 Ezra 1 Maccabees 2 Macca...

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 3

The next installment of my Restored English Translation (RET): Beresheet (Genesis) chapter 3.  As usual, it contains the  Aleph Tav and the  Hebrew names and a glossary for the Hebrew names.  Nothing much else to make a commentary out of, apart from an observation about the serpent who tempted Chavah (Eve).  Notice verse 14: “ And YEHOVAH ELOHIM said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, you are cursed above all beasts, and above every animal of the field.  On your belly you shall go, and you will eat dust all the days of your life. ” (RET)  So, despite popular portrayals, the snake originally had legs , and would have looked just like a lizard.  (The 1966 movie The Bible: In the Beginning… correctly portrayed the snake as having originally had legs, and shows it losing them when YAH cursed it.) CHAPTER 3 1 And the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which YEHOVAH EL...

Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 2

As my readers will by now know, I have embarked on a project to translate the entire Bible into English, a project I am calling the Restored English Translation (RET).  I have previously posted  Genesis 1 of this translation; today is Genesis 2. I will, in this translation, restore our Creator Yehovah’s original Name, as well as, where it appears, His title Elohim (commonly translated as God).  I also restore other Hebrew names .  I also restore the Aleph Tav את which is the  revelation of Yehoshua ha’Mashiach (Jesus the Christ/Messiah) throughout the Tanakh (Old Testament), as well as in the Hebrew Brit Chadashah (New Testament). As explained in my previous post Biblical Genders , in the first two chapters of Genesis until the creation of Eve, Adam was a hermaphrodite (whose female portion – not rib – was removed to make Eve), for whom “he” is an incorrect pronoun (and incorrect translation).  This transl...

The Revelation of the Aleph Tav

Image
In the Bible, in the Book of Revelation, we read: “I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, says YEHOVAH ELOHIM [The Lord God], Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come, YEHOVAH of Hosts.” (Revelation 1:8) “I was in the Ruach [Spirit] on the day of YEHOVAH, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a shofar [ram’s horn trumpet], saying, ‘I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last.'” (Revelation 1:10-11a) (the speaker of Yehoshua/Jesus) “And He said to me, ‘It is done.  I am the Aleph and the Tav, the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 21:6a) “I [Yehoshua] am the Aleph and the Tav, teh beginning and the end, the first and the last.” (Revelation 22:13) That is what the Greek translations of the book (on which our English translations are based) says.  In the original Hebrew and its Aramaic translation, the verses clearly say, “I AM the Aleph and the Tav” .  The Aleph and the Tav are the first and last letters of the Hebrew al...

The Creator's Name

There is raging debate today as to what is the true Name of our Creator, whom many simply call “God” or “The Lord”, generic titles that could apply to any deity.  There is also a lesser debate as to the true Name of God’s Son, our Messiah, commonly known by the incorrect Anglicised “Jesus”.  The letter “J” did not exist as a separate sound until the 1500s, before which it was just another way to write “I” or “Y”. The most popular version of the Creator’s Name is Yahweh, while others say Yahuah, Yahveh, Jehovah or Yehovah.  In each case, His shortened Name is Yah.  The most popular version of the Messiah’s Name is Yeshua, while others say Yahshua, Yahushua, Yahusha, or Yehoshua.  The Name of the Messiah is largely viewed as being dependent on the Name of the Father.  So, what is the truth?  The following video discusses the available evidence and firmly establishes what our Creator’s Name really is: https://youtu.be/3MXIfOSOJ_k At th...
