Shavuot - The Feast of Pentecost

Today was Pentecost (in Australia, on my calendar.)

Today (for me – in Australia) is the Feast of Shavuot, known in English as Pentecost.  Most probably celebrate it on a different date; see Feast Calendar and Yom Teruah – The Feast of Trumpets for an explanation of my calendar.  See also Does the Torah Still Apply? for why this feast wasn’t done away with by Yeshua/Jesus.
The Biblical instructions for this feast are:
15 “You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering.16 You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath. Then you shall present a grain offering of new grain to the Lord.17 You shall bring from your dwelling places two loaves of bread to be waved, made of two tenths of an ephah. Welcome to the 24th edition of My Fortnightly Movie/TV Thoughts .  Last fortnight, I reviewed Home Alone (1990).  This fortnight, I’m reviewing: Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker (2019), rated M for science fiction violence That of course is the Australian rating; in the United States, it’s rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence and action. As usual, I’ll include the trailer at the end – and a clip, IF I can find one (and this early into this release, that’s no guarantee). WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD.  PROCEED AT OWN RISK. Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker The Skywalker Saga has finally come to an end… for the 3rd time!  (This is the absolute final time… apparently.)  In 1983, it seemed – for years to come – that the saga had finally ended with Return of the Jedi .  Then, 16 years later the Prequels came along, and for the better part of a decade it seemed the saga ended with Revenge of the Sith in 2005 (arguably the best of the franchise).

KJV Only?

The KJV Only movement is a belief on the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible - also known as the Authorised Version (AV) or the Authorised King James Version (AKJV) - that ranges from preferring it over other, later translations, to the belief that it's inspired, perfect, and superior to the original Hebrew & Greek texts, and that all other translations are intentionally corrupt, satanic, and unreliable.  The former is of course entirely a matter of personal preference & opinion, and you won't hear criticism of it from me.  The latter on the other hand... well, that's the focus of this article. The Revelation of the Aleph Tav

In the Bible, in the Book of Revelation, we read: “I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, says YEHOVAH ELOHIM [The Lord God], Who is, and Who was, and Who is to come, YEHOVAH of Hosts.” (Revelation 1:8) “I was in the Ruach [Spirit] on the day of YEHOVAH, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a shofar [ram’s horn trumpet], saying, ‘I AM the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last.'” (Revelation 1:10-11a) (the speaker of Yehoshua/Jesus) “And He said to me, ‘It is done.  I am the Aleph and the Tav, the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 21:6a) “I [Yehoshua] am the Aleph and the Tav, teh beginning and the end, the first and the last.” (Revelation 22:13) That is what the Greek translations of the book (on which our English translations are based) says.  In the original Hebrew and its Aramaic translation, the verses clearly say, “I AM the Aleph and the Tav” .  The Aleph and the Tav are the first and last letters of the Hebrew alphabet – s
