Restored English Translation of Matthew: Chapter 4
G'day, everyone! Today, I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of Matityahu (Matthew) chapter 4. As usual, it contains the Hebrew names, with a glossary of them at the end. As this translation is sourced from the original Hebrew, there will be some differences - mostly minor - when compared to conventional translations.
8 Again, the devil took Him up into an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 and said to him, “All these things I will give You, if You will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then YEHOSHUA said to him, “Get out of here, satan! For it is written, ‘You will worship YEHOVAH your ELOHIM, and you will only serve Him.’” 11 Then the devil left Him, and behold, messengers came and ministered to Him. 12 Now when YEHOSHUA had heard that Yochanan had been cast into prison, he departed into Galil; 13 and leaving Natsaret, He came and dwelt in Kefar Nachum, which is on the sea coast, in the borders of Zevulun and Naftali, 14 that it might be fulfilled what was spoken by Yeshayahu the prophet, saying, 15 “The land of Zevulun, and the land of Naftali, by the way of the sea, beyond Yarden, Galil of the gentiles; 16 the people who sat in darkness saw great light; and to them who sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.” 17 From that time YEHOSHUA began to preach and to say, “Repent! For the kingdom of Heaven is offered.”
18 And YEHOSHUA, walking by the sea of Galil, saw two brothers, Shimon (called Kefa), and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea (for they were fishers). 19 And He said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 And they straightway left their nets and followed Him. 21 And going on from there, He saw two other brothers, Ya’akov the son of Zavdai, and his brother Yochanan, in a ship with their father Zavdai, mending their nets. And He called them. 22 And they immediately left the ship and their father and followed Him. 23 And YEHOSHUA went about all Galil, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. 24 And His fame went throughout all the people. And they brought to Him all sick people who were taken with diverse diseases and torments, and those who were possessed with devils, and those who were lunatics, and those that had the palsy; and He healed them. 25 And there followed Him great multitudes of people from Galil, and from the 10 towns, and from Yerushalayim, and from Yehudah, and from beyond Yarden.

CHAPTER 4
1 Then YEHOSHUA was led up by the RUACH HA‘KODESH into the wilderness of Yehudah to be tempted by the devil. 2 And when He had fasted 40 days and 40 nights, He was hungry afterwards. 3 And when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You be the Son of ELOHIM, command that these stones be made bread.” 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man will not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of ELOHIM.’” 5 Then the devil took Him up into the set-apart city, and set Him on a pinnacle of the temple, 6 and says to him, “If You be the Son of ELOHIM, cast Yourself down. For it is written, ‘He will give His messengers charge concerning you; and in their hands they will bear you up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone.’” 7 YEHOSHUA said to him, “It is written again, ‘You will not tempt YEHOVAH your ELOHIM.’” 8 Again, the devil took Him up into an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 and said to him, “All these things I will give You, if You will fall down and worship me.” 10 Then YEHOSHUA said to him, “Get out of here, satan!
