Welcome to the 29th edition of My Fortnightly Movie/TV Thoughts!  Last fortnight, I reviewed Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002).  This fortnight, I’m reviewing:
  • Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004), rated PG for some fantasy scenes may frighten young children
  • Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), rated M for moderate dark themes, moderate fantasy violence
Those of course are the Australian ratings; in the United States, the ratings are:
  • Prisoner of Azkaban – PG for frightening moments, creature violence and mild language
  • Goblet of Fire – PG-13 for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images

It's been 4 months since my A History of Marriage - Part 1 , but I've finally gotten around to the second part.  In Part 1, I discussed marriage traditions of pagan/superstitious origin, and the origin and history of marriage licences.  In Part 2, I'm looking at marriage age, cousin marriage, and avunculate marriage (marriage of a man to his niece, or a woman to her nephew). Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 14

  Here is my  Restored English Translation  (RET) of  Beresheet  ( Genesis ) chapter 14.  As usual, it contains the  Hebrew names  and a glossary for them.  After that, at the very end, is a list of occurrences of the  Aleph/ Tavs . Verse 5 is particularly interesting; it mentions that the confederacy that attacked Sodom and Gomorrah had previously struck the Rephaim, Zuzim, Emim and Horites.  The Rephaim were a race of  Nephilim , and the others may have been as well. The Werewolves of Ireland

Ah, werewolves.  Popular trope in horror movies and novels.  Usually portrayed as a human who transforms into a humanoid wolf (or as a human-wolf hybrid).  Sometimes the condition (known as lycanthropy) is genetic and hereditary, sometimes it’s the result of a werewolf bite, sometimes the result of a curse.  It’s often (but not necessarily) related to the full moon.   https://youtu.be/TKIbuXsN2F4   https://youtu.be/myjd4uoq6dY https://youtu.be/kzZcDHHNINk However, these nightmarish beasts are not limited to the world of fiction; they are a legendary creature, seen and encountered by many people up until the present day.
