Restored English Translation of Esther: Chapter 11

G’day!  Today I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of the 11th chapter of the Megillat Ester, otherwise known in English as the Book of Esther.  “Hold on a minute!” I can hear some of you saying.  “There’s only 10 chapters!”  That’s true – if you’re using the abridged Masoretic version.  The original book is actually much longer.  Some divide it into 10 chapters, others into 15 or 16.  I divide it into 15.  See Restored English Translation of Esther: Chapter 1 and The Canon of Scripture, Part 1: The Apocrypha.
As usual, it contains the Hebrew names, with a glossary of them afterwards.  At the very end, is a list of where the Aleph-Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text.

CHAPTER 11

1 So the king and Haman came to Ester the Queen’s banquet.  2  And the king again said to Ester on the second day at the banquet of wine, “What is your petition, Ester the Queen?  And it will be granted to you. And what is your request? And it will be performed, even to the half of the kingdom.”  3  Then Ester the Queen answered and said, “If I have found favour in your eyes, O King, and if it is good to the King, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request.  4  For we are sold, I and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain, and to perish. But if we had been sold as male slaves and female slaves, I would have stayed silent, for the enemy is not equal to the king’s injury.”  5  Then the King Achashverosh answered and said to Ester the queen, “Who is he, and where is he, whose heart is filled to do so?”  6  And Ester said, “The enemy and hateful one is this wicked one Haman.” Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.  7  And the king arose from the banquet of wine in his anger and went into the palace garden. And Haman stood up to strive for his life to Ester the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.  8  Then the king returned out of the palace garden to the house of the banquet of wine; and Haman was falling on the bed which Ester was on. Then the king said, “Will he also violate the queen before me in the house?” The word went out of the king’s mouth, and they covered Haman’s face.  9  And Harbonah, one of the eunuchs, said before the king, “Behold also, the wooden gallows, which Haman had made for Mordekai, who had spoken good for the king, stands in the house of Haman, 50 cubits high.” Then the king said, “Hang him on it.”  10  So they hanged Haman on the wooden gallows that he had prepared for Mordekai. Then the king’s anger was abated.
