Yom Kippur - Day of Atonement

Today is in Australia (for me) the Day of Atonement; it’s the 7th in the US (if you follow my calendar).
Today – Monday, 8th October, 2018 – is (at least in Australia) Yom Kippur – otherwise known in English as the Day of Atonement, one of the Biblical feasts mandated in the Torah, which still apply to us.
This feast is described in Leviticus as follows:
And YEHOVAH spoke to Moses, saying, “Also on the 10th day of this 7th month is Yom Kippurim; it shall be a set-apart assembly to you, and you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to YEHOVAH.  And you will do no work in that same day, for it is Yom Kippurim, to make an atonement for you before YEHOVAH your ELOHIM.  For whoever will not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.  And whoever does any work in that same day, I will destroy that same person from among his…
