Restored English Translation of Esther: Chapter 5
Today I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of Ester (Esther)
chapter 5. As usual, it contains the Hebrew names, wit a glossary of
them after the chapter. At the end is a list of where the Aleph-Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text.
8 And Haman said to King Achashverosh, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; and their Torah is different from every people; they are not doing the laws of the king’s. And it is not for the King’s profit to put up with them. 9 If it is good to the King, let it be written that they may be destroyed. And I will pay 10,000 talents of silver to the hands of those doing the work, to bring it to the king’s treasuries.” 10 And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it to Haman the son of Hammedata the Agagi, the Yehudim’s enemy. 11 And the king said to Haman, “The silver is given to you, the people also, to do with them as it seems good in your eyes.” 12 Then the king’s scribes were called on the 13th day of the first month, and it was written according to all that Haman had commanded to the king’s governors, and to the prefects who were over every province, and to the rulers of every people of every province according to its writing, and to every people after their language; it was written in the name of King Achashverosh, and sealed with the king’s ring. 13 And the letters were sent by runners into all the king’s provinces, to destroy, to kill, and to cause to perish all the Yehudim, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, on the 13th of the 12th month, which is the month Adar, and to take their booty for plunder.

Verse 3: Then the king’s servants, who were in the king’s gate, said to Mordekai, “Why do you transgress את commandment of the king’s?”
Verse 6: And it was disesteem in his eyes to stretch out hands against Mordekai alone; for they had informed him of the את people of Mordekai. Therefore Haman sought to destroy את all the Yedudim who were in the whole kingdom of Achashverosh, the people of Mordekai.

CHAPTER 5
1 After these things King Achashverosh promoted Haman the son
of Hammedata the Agagi, and lifted him up, and set his seat above all
the princes who were with him. 2 And all the king’s servants, who were in the king’s gate, bowed and prostrated before Haman; for the king had so commanded for him. But Mordekai did not bow nor prostrate. 3 Then the king’s servants, who were in the king’s gate, said to Mordekai, “Why do you transgress the king’s commandment?” 4 And
it was, when they spoke to him day by day, and he did not listen to
them, that they told Haman, to see if Mordekai’s matters would stand;
for he had told them that he was a Yehudi. 5 And Haman saw that Mordekai did not bow or prostrate to him. And Haman was full of anger. 6 And it was disesteem in his eyes to stretch out hands against Mordekai alone; for they had informed him of people of Mordekai. Therefore Haman sought to destroy all the Yedudim who were in the whole kingdom of Achashverosh, the people of Mordekai. 7 In
the first month (that is, the month Nisan), in the 12th year of King
Achashverosh, they cast Pur (that is, the lot), before Haman from day to
day, and from month to month, to the 12th month (that is, the month Adar).8 And Haman said to King Achashverosh, “There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the people in all the provinces of your kingdom; and their Torah is different from every people; they are not doing the laws of the king’s.
