Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 22
Today I present my Restored English Translation (RET) of the 22nd chapter of the Sefer Beresheet, otherwise known as the Book of Genesis. As usual, it contains the Hebrew names, with a glossary of them afterwards. It also contains a glossary of where the Aleph/Tavs occur, as they are no longer included in the main text.
This is the chapter in which Abraham nearly sacrificed his son Isaac. In verse 8, most translations read "Abraham answered, 'God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.' And the two of them went on together." However, the Hebrew literally reads "Elohim [God] will provide Himself the lamb for the burnt offering" - a clear Messianic prophecy of Yehoshua ha'Mashiach (Jesus Christ).

CHAPTER 22
1 And after these things ELOHIM, testing Avraham, said to him, "Avraham!" And he answered, "I am here." 2 And He said, "Take now your son, your only one, whom you love, Yitschak, and go into the land of Moriyah, and there offer him for a burnt offering on one of the mountains, which I will say to you." 3 And Avraham rose up early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his youths with him, and his son Yitschak. And he split wood for a burnt offering, and rose up and went to the place which ELOHIM had said to him. 4 Then on the third day Avraham lifted up his eyes and saw the place from a distance. 5 And Avraham said to his young men, "You stay here with the donkey. I and the boy will go over there and worship and come back to you." 6 And Avraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on his son Yitschak. And he took the fire and the knife in his hand. And the two went together. 7 And Yitschak spoke to his father Avraham and said, "My father." And he answered, "Here I am, my son." And he said, "Behold, the fire and the wood! But where is the lamb for a burnt offering?" 8 And Avraham said, "My son, ELOHIM will provide Himself a lamb for a burnt offering." And the two of them went together. 9 And they came to the place which ELOHIM told him. And there Avraham built the altar, and arranged the wood. And he bound his son Yitschak and laid him on the altar on the wood. 10 And Avraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son. 11 And the messenger of YEHOVAH called to him out of the heavens and said, "Avraham! Avraham!" And he answered, "Here I am." 12 And he said, "Do not lay your hand on the boy, nor do anything to him! For now I know that you fear ELOHIM, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only one, from Me." 13 And Avraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and behold, a ram behind him was entangled by its horns in a thicket. And Avrahan went and took the ram and offered it for a burnt offering instead of his son. 14 And Avraham named that place YEHOVAH YIREH; as it is said to this day, "In the Mount of YEHOVAH it will be seen." 15 And the messenger of YEHOVAH called to Avraham the second time. 16 And he said, "'By Myself I have sworn,' says YEHOVAH, 'that because you have done this thing, and have not withheld your son, your only son, 17 that I will bless you, and I will surely multiply your seed as the stars of the heavens, as the sand on which is the seashore. 18 And your seed shall own the gate of His enemies, and in your seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have heard My voice.'" 19 So Avraham returned to his young men, and they rose up and went together to Be'er-Sheva. And Avraham lived at Be'er-Sheva.
20 And it was after these things that Avraham was told, saying, "Behold, Milkah, she has born sons to your brother Nachor: 21 Uts his firstborn, and Buz his brother, and Kemu'el the father of Aram, 22 and Kesed, and Chazo, and Pildash, and Yidlaf, and Betu'el. 23 And Betu'el fathered Rivkah. Milkah bore these eight to Avraham's brother Nachor. 24 And his concubine, whose name was Re'umah, she also bore Tevach, and Gacham, and Tachash, and Ma'akah.
