Restored English Translation of Genesis: Chapter 16

Hello, and greetings to all my new followers!  To bring you up to speed, I am preparing a translation of the Bible, called the Restored English Translation (RET).  Today I am posting Beresheet (Genesis) chapter 16.  As usual, it contains the Hebrew names, with a glossary of them at the end.  At the end is a list of where the Aleph/Tavs occurred, which are no longer included in the main text.
This is the chapter when Sarai has Abram sleep with her servant Hagar.  I do have some comments on this, but I’ll save them for another post.

CHAPTER 16

1 Now Avram’s wife Sarai bore him no children. But she had a female slave, a Mitsri, whose name was Hagar. 2 And Sarai said to Avram, “Behold now, YEHOVAH has restrained me from bearing. Please go in to my female slave. It may be that I may be built up from her.” And Avram listened to Sara’s voice. 3 And Avram’s wife Sarai took Hagar the Mitsri, her female slave, after 10 years of Avram’s living in the land of Kena’an, and she gave her to her husband Avram to him for a wife. 4 And he went into Hagar, and she conceived. And when she saw that she had become pregnant, she despised her mistress in her eyes. 5 And Sarai said to Avram, “My wrong be on you. I have given my female slave into your bosom, and she saw that she had conceived, and I was despised in her eyes! YEHOVAH judge between me and you.” 6 But Avram replied to Sarai, “Behold, your female servant is in your hand. Do to her as it pleases you.” And Sarai dealt harshly with her, and she fled from her face. 7 And the messenger of YEHOVAH found her by a well of water in the wilderness, by the well on the way to Shur. 8 And he said, “Hagar, Sarai’s female slave, where did you come from? And where will you go?” And she replied, “I am fleeing from the face of my mistress Sarai.” 9 And the messenger of YEHOVAH said to her, “Return to your mistress and submit yourself under her hands.” 10 And the messenger of YEHOVAH said to her, “I will greatly multiply your seed, and they shall not be numbered for multitude.” 11 And the messenger of YEHOVAH said to her, “Behold, you are with child, and you shall give birth to a son, and shall call his name Yishma’el, because YEHOVAH has heard your affliction. 12 And he will be a wild ass of a human; his hand will be against every man, and every man’s hand against him. And he shall live in the presence of all his brothers.” 13 And she called the Name of YEHOVAH Who spoke to her, saying, “You are an ELOHIM of vision!” (For she said, “Even here I have looked after Him that sees me.”) 14 Therefore the well was named Be’er La-Chai Ro’i; look, it is between Kadesh and between Bered. 15 And Hagar bore a son to Avram; and Avram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore, Yishma’el. 16 And Avram was 86 years old when Hagar bore Yishma’el to Avram.

Verse 16: And Avram was 86 years old when bore Hagar את Yishma’el to Avram.
